Now online: Virtual Exhibition on German Country Houses (1770-1990)
Innovative exhibition project by a research group at the University of Tübingen (Germany) now online.
A team of historians at the University of Tübingen (Germany) has created an exhibition on the life in German country houses from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. It went online in November 2021. Available in English, German, and easy Germany (Leichte Sprache) and curated together with a graphic design agency, visitors can enter different rooms of a fictive country house. They experience how inhabitants of these building complexes governed, worked and lived their lives. Interactive elements like polls, slides of images as well as audio effects enhance the exhibition which provides insight into scenes of country house life both upstairs and downstairs, indoors and outdoors.
The contents of the exhibition are based on the Tübingen country house research project (“Landhäuser im Wandel”) that will be completed later this year and was funded by the Irene and Sigurd Greven Stiftung in Cologne.
