The Norsk Folkemuseum Foundation in Oslo brings together the Nordic symposium on manors and manor museums and the annual ENCOUNTER Conference for a discussion of the role of manors and manor museums in the light of the new museum definition adopted by ICOM – the international museum organization. Introducing concepts like inclusion, diversity, sustainability, and community participation as parameters for the modern museum the new definition may present new challenges as well as new possibilities to the manorial heritage and manor museums.
In addition to the conference, it will be possible to participate in excursions to some of the manors and manor museums in or near Oslo.
